Pure Dominance As Sun Kings Tie Records - 2007-03-09

The Yakama Sun Kings used a strong third quarter to put the game out of reach, defeating the visiting-Great Falls Explorers, 100-78(7,0). With the win, Yakama established a new franchise record for consecutive home victories with 11 and tied the franchise mark for most consecutive wins, eight. The victory boosted the Sun Kings overall record to 29-9 and their home record to 18-3. Yakama leads the 14-game season series with the Explorers, 8-2. After taking a seven-point half-time lead, the Sun Kings outscored Great Falls, 30-16, in the third period to open a 21-point cushion entering the final quarter.\

Elvin Mims paced the Sun Kings with 17 points while Ralph Holmes added 16 points. Chris Alexander and Greg Stevenson came off the bench to drop in 12 and 11 points, respectively. Eddy Barlow and Rocky Walls each scored nine points. Walls led the Sun Kings in rebounding, pulling down 14 boards, while Alexander grabbed eight and Leonard White had six. Galen Young dished out a game-high 10 assists and Barlow and White each had four. Holmes had a career-high five steals. The Sun Kings controlled the boards, 50-35, and had 32 assists to only 17 for the Explorers.
